Ask More Questions with Sourced

I was in Lake Atitlan on retreat last week, and a message came through that I wanted to share.

You can ask a lot from Source. While in Guatemala, I was able to guest teach a few classes, a question came up, and I found myself teaching the idea that you can ask more from Source than you may think.

I have shared the story of how I lost $50K in an event, and that was when I began to be fiercely committed to following the divine guidance I find in my soul, Sourced, to guide the way. More so than my head or my ego.

After losing a good amount of money, I reflected on the why. Why did it go this way? That wasn’t the plan. I found that intuitive guidance led me on a path, but then my brain took over and decided what all of it meant.

Rather than continuing to check in with my guidance, I got one intuitive hit and made up what all of it must mean.

Have you ever done that? Have you ever received one ping of divine guidance, then your brain takes over to figure out what it means?

People were nodding their heads, so I think I was not alone.

What I did not do in that scenario that I would do today is when I get that intuitive hit, I would ask more questions.

Does it mean this?
Does it mean that?
Is this really what it means?
Does it mean something else?

If you are not getting a clear answer, you can ask yourself, is this clarity available to me right now?

You would be surprised; sometimes, I do get a no. Maybe there is some information I need to sit with before Source guides me to know what to do. At that point, I can let it go.

After I lost the money at the event, I did get an intuitive hit, let my brain take over, and took a few steps without asking the important, probing, follow-up questions with myself like:

Is this about this, or is this about something else?
Is there more information available today?
Is there anything I am meant to do with this?

We can ask our soul so many questions that we often don’t.

It is painful when someone gets a “sign from the universe.”

Sometimes they seem very stuck. When I see this, it is painful because I know there is access to clarity through Source in all of us, but we have to develop a relationship with Source to access that clarity.

Without fostering our relationship with Source, we become victims to the signs. The more we develop our relationship with Source, the more freedom and peace we will have.

A year ago this week, I discovered my wife was having an affair. It was devastating. It was despair alternating with rage. In the big picture, because I know and understand transformation, I knew that somewhere in the rage and despair was gold.

I knew that to be true. I wasn’t happy about it, but I knew it to be true.

How I Navigated the Circumstance

I knew because of my work and training as a Sourced Leader that I was equipped with the tools to navigate this circumstance and come out on the other side whole and in alignment with my soul.

It reminded me of a time when I lost $50K on an event. It was then that I became committed to hearing, listening to, and trusting my soul even when it didn’t make sense or was illogical. I’ve been doing it as an entrepreneur and business leader ever since.

Last year, when I needed to navigate a circumstance in my most special relationship, I relied on that guidance to show me the way.

I was traveling when I learned about my wife’s infidelity. I could sense that something was wrong. My inner-knowing was telling me something was “off.” So I probed, and that is how I found this life-altering news.

The very first thing I did? I hired a coach.

I hired someone I knew operated connected to their inner-knowing, or Sourced, like me. I knew they wouldn’t judge the circumstance one way or the other and would be able to hold a neutral space for me to determine my right next step.

One morning while on retreat in the Cascade mountains and communing with nature, something came through. I knew two specific things that came directly from my soul. I knew these two things needed to be true for me to continue in my marriage. If this and this, then I will be open to staying, I told myself.

In that moment, the relationship with my inner knowing, the relationship I had been cultivating for years, was accessible to me. If those inner needs were unmet, I knew it wouldn’t work. I knew! I knew the next right step for me.

Even though I was terrified, upset, and angry when I saw my wife again, I could reflect and determine my two things were not going to be met. It was clear.

There was a moment when I was asked to override my needs and bypass my feelings. I recognized that an older version of me would have allowed that, but now I knew what I needed, and instead, I honored that.

Since my loss of $50K, I have practiced honoring my inner knowing and cultivated that relationship with myself within my business that I finally saw this way of being overflow into my personal decisions.

My path was clear, and it no longer included her.

My business has become lighter, freer, more easful, and effective since developing my inner knowing, and I trust in all facets of my life including personal relationships.

It was ungrounding and displacing. It was the most challenging circumstance I have ever had to navigate. The good news – I knew what was right and true for me.

It wasn’t a “she is wrong, and I am right” knowing but rather a knowing that I needed a set of conditions to be a certain way for me to feel safe.

What are you hearing in this?

I have since divorced. I have reclaimed my space, my home, my vision, and all of the pieces of me that I may have forgotten when I was in that relationship.

I don’t wish a circumstance like this on anyone, although we all have circumstances. If we are not grounded with a clear connection to our soul, we can get lost. It can get fuzzy and unclear which direction is the right direction for us.

I am sharing this story to advocate for becoming a Sourced Leader – someone who conducts their business and life from an inner-knowing, your Sourced Magic.
